FBC Travel Tips for 2019-20 Nonconference:

  • Sun Nov 24, 2019: Syracuse
    • EUG-SYR travel is reasonable.  Some flights are just 7h-with-one-stop.   Of course, PDX has more flight options.
    • The university is only about 10m away from the SYR airport.   It is located in the University Hill neighborhood of Syracuse, New York.
    • Syracuse plays in the Carrier Dome -- a uniquely huge domed arena, usable for Football, Lacrosse, and Basketball.  (link)

  • Nov 28-30, 2019:  Paradise Jam -- vs Oklahoma St, UT Arlington and Louisville
    • Oregon will play in a Thanksgiving-weekend event in the US Virgin Islands.   Louisville lost some players, but is expected to be a top 10 team.
    • All-Session tickets avalable for $100 (link).   Fan travel package info here (link).   Tournament info here (link).
    • I suspect many of us would be happy to go enjoy the islands in November, while supporting our Ducks.  Be aware that this isn't an inexpensive event, plus it likely involves travel over the busiest Thanksgiving travel weekend of the year.   Sample price for 2 might be $2720 for lodging/event (if you use their lodging package), plus long/redeye flights costing perhaps $3200+, plus your misc expenses.    If you're creative with your lodging/flights/timing, you can likely find a better deal.

  • Sat Dec 14, 2019:  Long Beach State
    • Long Beach is a picturesque beachfront university just south of LA.   It'd be a long fan trip for a solo preseason game, so we aren't listing many specific tips.   You may recall seeing LB play at MKA last season (W 110-48).
    • They are a great beach volleyball school.  Their nickname is 'The Beach' -- UO VB coach Ulmer had a great history there, as did gold medalist Misty May-Treanor
    • For more info on LBSU, see:  WBB home page (link), Wikipedia (link), or our general Pac-12 Los Angeles travel tips .

  • Mon Feb 3, 2020:  UConn
    • For the team, this will be a busy week.  They travel from their Utah/Colorado weekend games to make a Monday game at UConn.    But, it seems hard to turn down a chance to see Oregon (led by Sabrina & Ruthy) get another shot at UConn (before next season @ MKA, without them).
    • Flights from EUG to the Hartford area run 7-15h, though can be found under $500 RT.   Far more flight options from PDX.   Your destination airport is likely Bradley International Airport (BDL), outside of Hartford.
    • Getting from BDL to UConn:  It's about a 45-minute drive.  You could taxi (~$85) or arrange other transportation to the campus in Storrs, CT  (link)
